Closed to Tourism

The coastline along Monterey is one of the most beautiful places in California in my eyes. Of course, it’s also one of the most over-photographed.

I’ve made more than a handful of landscape photographs from my two trips there in 2021. But a collection of random, off-the-path shots of the area have come to appeal to me in a different way. To me they are more private, specific, and complimentary to the majesty of the grander landscape.

They show a lonelier side of a wild, enduring personality, like the quiet, reflective time one needs after an eventful outing.

This is an ongoing exploration of this side of popular landscape spots, titled “Closed to Tourism” for now.
